So on Facebook for November, a lot of people were posting daily about what they were thankful for. I jumped on the bandwagon, but like most things, I didn't really finish it (do I ever finish anything?). But I did make it up until Thanksgiving day, so I think that counts, right? I thought I'd post my list here, so I have it all in one place and can look back and remember all the things I have to be thankful for.
Just to clarify - some of these things were specific to the day on which they were written, so they may not make perfect sense out of context, but they make sense to me. And it's all about me, right?
Day 1: I am so very thankful for a husband who forgives my faults.
Day 2: I am grateful for midwives and the awesome care they provide (12 week appointment today!)
Day 3: I'm thankful for Mom-friends. Playgroup with the kids yesterday and Mommy's Night Out tonight, hooray!
Day 4: Today I am thankful that Benji
apparently did get the whole daylight savings thing and let me sleep in
(until what would have been 8:30, which is actually 2 hours more than I
usually get!) Thanks little Monkey
Day 5: Today I am thankful for the opportunity
to stay home with my little love, I'm so glad to be able to watch him
grow and develop since he changes so much each day.
Day 6: Today I am thankful for my right to
vote. I don't have a lot of faith in our government, but I will play my
part and hope for the best.
Day 7: Today I am thankful that my hope does not lie in the government.
Day 8: Today I am thankful that I don't have
to drive to work in the snow! And thankful that my husband is an
experienced and cautious snow-driver.
Day 9: Today I am thankful for my parents.
They raised me with morals, values and a sense of right and wrong. It
may not have always been fun growing up, but the phrase "you'll thank me
when you're older" could not be more true. Thanks Mom and Dad, love you
both.
Day 10: Today I am thankful for modern car
seats. No one ever expects to be in a car accident, but should the
unexpected happen, a properly used car seat will save Benji's life. I
would never dream of risking his life by not using one or using it
inappropriately.
Day 11: Today I am thankful to all the
veterans (and those currently serving) who have dedicated and risked
their lives to protect our nation.
Day 12: Today I am thankful for the good health of our family, especially for a toddler with a strong immune system! (And wouldn't you know it, he got sick a couple days later. haha kids!)
Day 13: Today I am thankful that we have enough food to eat, even if food aversion is still making everything sound icky to me.
Day 14: Today I am thankful for the roof over
our heads. We live in a warm, comfortable, well maintained apartment -
the first I've felt was really "home" and for that I am very grateful.
Day 15: Today I am thankful for breastfeeding.
Extended breastfeeding may not be popular (but when I have been
popular?), but it is recommended that breastfeeding should continue to
"two years or beyond". Benji is 20 months today and still going.
Day 16: Today I am thankful that I have Fridays off since all Benji wanted to do was cuddle alllllll day long.
I am also thankful for my Dad (again). Happy birthday Dad!
Day 17: Today I am thankful that Benji still
likes to be carried in the Ergo, made having to do all that grocery
shopping while he was feeling sickly a lot easier.
Day 18: today I am thankful for the sound of
toddler laughter after a hard day. And thankful for the husband who's
pretending to sneeze out weird things to make the toddler laughter
happen.
Day 19: Today I am thankful for understanding
employers (clients?) who give me the day off when I need it. Benji has
been a sickly, clingy, whiny mess today, poor guy.
Day 20: Today I am thankful that Benji was a little less clingy and let me get some cleaning done before the family comes.
Day 21: Today I am thankful for Jackie and Charlie,
the best in-laws a girl could ask for. They put up with me living with
them for 2 years and they've always treated me like family, I can always
rely on them and they're wonderful garndparents! Love you Jackie and
Charlie, see you later today!
Day 22: Today on this beautiful Thanksgiving
day, I am thankful to the One who provides all blessings. God has truly
blessed me with wonderful family, wonderful friends and a happy and safe
life and I am beyond grateful.
And I just realized I never mentioned my siblings. I am so thankful for all of my siblings, whether by blood or marriage. My brother and sister and I may not have gotten along as kids, but we have become friends. And all of my brothers- and sisters-in-law are such wonderful people and have always been so sweet to me, so glad to have such great families-by-marriage.
I also eluded to my husband, my son, and my baby-to-be, but never really delved into just how thankful I am for my little family. I haven't done much in this life that I can look back on with no regrets, but marrying my husband and building a family with him is one of those things. I am beyond grateful for the blessings God has given me in such an amazing little family. A husband who loves and cares for me, a perfect little boy (even when he's challenging), and another little blessing on the way (who hasn't even made me throw up once!), who could ask for more?
So there you have it. A full month (almost) of thankfulness. What are you thankful for?

So much to be thankful for! Thanks for sharing your blessings over at Laura's (where I found your post). Today I'm thankful for the gorgeous crocheted Christmas tree skirt my stepmom made for me; can't wait to use it this year once we get a tree.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't worry about not "finishing" some things...sometimes it's the process that counts and what it's all about!
Blessings,
Lisa :)
Thanks for visiting! A crocheted tree skirt sounds beautiful, what a nice family heirloom.
DeleteI agree, sometimes the process is so much more important than the product!
